{ In MEMORY of our babies who have crossed over}
YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN
THIS IS WITHOUT A DOUBT THE HARDEST PART OF RESCUE
"It came to me that every time I lose an animal, they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new animal who comes into my life, gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart, will be animal and I will become as generous and loving as they are."
**HOLLY**
FOREVER IN OUR HEART
Sweet wonderful Holly had a story long enough to write a book. First she was found in a park with her best friend Joe. They had stayed together side by side during their journey after being dumped there. They made it in to the shelter and then to our rescue from there. They were separated for many months in two separate foster homes due to space in the rescue. Everyone followed their journey throughout the months. Holly being older was placed twice and returned due to be older and people just couldn't handle her special needs once there. Broken hearted each time we moved on. Finally after many months we had a wonderful family from Florida, saying they would adopt both together. Our dream came true. This was always our dream for them after 6 long months of trying to place them. They finally would end up together forever after what they had been through. They made the trip together there and were finally home and their journey was over.. .They were enjoying life together each day, and Joe her best friend seemed to know that Holly was getting on in age and needed him. He would press his body up against Holly to guide her along the way so she could stay steady as she walked. Soon she was running and playing out in the yard and loved chasing the chickens in the coop the new family had. Sadly it was short lived. Holly passed away in her sleep only about a month after being placed there. True this is very sad, but in the end, we accomplished what we wanted. For Holly and Joe to be together forever and they were..So as sad as the story may be, Holly was very loved by all of us and took her last breath knowing Joe was by her side.

**WILLOW**
FOREVER IN OUR HEART
Willow was found in the shelter as you can see in very sad shape and uncared for. She came in with a male thought to be the father of their recently born pups. The family did not dump the puppies at the shelter but rather dumped Willow and her mate Dallas at the shelter, leaving Willow to grieve for her puppies that were only 4 weeks old when they dropped her off. We had them groomed and looking all pretty, ready for a new life and a new beginning. Unfortunately suddenly both came down with Parvo. Dallas survived, but poor Willow didn't have a change since she had just given birth 4 weeks prior. It's so so sad to think this could have been avoided by just giving them vaccinations. She was only 1 1/2 to 2 years old... What a shame she didn't survive. She was gone in a matter of days.. We had so much hope for her new life. Because of a very selfish and uncaring owner not only did she loose her babies to their selfish greed for money, but she died from a horrible disease because she wasn't given a $10 yearly shot. Willow will always be remembered.

**MARKY**
FOREVER IN MY HEART
Our sweet Marky was only with HSR for a about a week.. We saved him from the euthanasia list at one of the local shelters. He was a healthy and happy little boy. Loved by his foster and all who met him. While under going his neuter. Marky went in to cardiac arrest and died quickly. We were all stunned and saddened. Unfortunately not knowing the background of any of these dogs we do not know what it was related to... We were all heart broken knowing his new life was about to begin.. Som times the hardest part of rescue is the unexpected things that happen.. We will all miss you Marky and what could have been for you in the future.

**NELLIE**
FOREVER IN MY HEART
Sweet Nellie....although she wasn't with us long she touched the heart of her foster and many others in the short time she was with us. Nellie was rescued from the shelter and within days began exhibiting signs of Parvo. We did everything that could be done to help this angel but unfortunately she succombed to the virus. If only her previous owners had been responsible enough to have provided her with the vital shots that would have prevented this to happen. Sweet Nellie will forever be in our hearts.....

**SELENA**
FOREVER IN MY HEART!
We only had Selena for a about 4 days but her love for life and sweetness was apparent. She loved to be loved on and held. Within a matter of days the Parvo virus had hit her and she was gone from us. Such a short time to know her and still she will forever be in our hearts. A simple set of shots from her owner would have spared her from the misery she went through.

**GRACIE**
FOREVER IN MY HEART!
When I was doing volunteer work with a local shelter I did everything I could to save this girl who had been abused and neglected terribly. When I knew it was time for them to euthanize her I panicked. I didn't have my own rescue at the time. I started making calls to rescues who could take her in to spare her life. A local Lab rescue returned my call and said they would accept her. They picked her up. I was thrilled thinking she was safe. Less then 3 days later she was euthanized by the very group I thought would save her. They said she snapped at someone when she attended an adoption event ( that she should not have been brought to that soon). I am amazed they call themselves a rescue. To this day it is heartbreaking to know this is how she left this world.

**SASSY**
FOREVER IN MY HEART!
This was one special little girl to all who were involved with her in one way or another. She was amazingly strong and fought her way back from being the runt of the litter. She was a very quite tiny girl that no one could help but to fall in love with. Sassy's intestines were not developing correctly after a bone she was eating became lodged in her intestines. She was never the same after this, even though we had surgery performed on her. She never bounced back 100%, and a short time after she died on her own. She was a complete doll. She truly was an angel here on earth.

**TOBY**
FOREVER IN MY HEART!!
This beautiful baby was one I quickly fell in love with while volunteering at a shelter before I had my rescue. He was an amazing dog. Even though he was young he had a very old soul and you could see this. Toby had Heartworms and they started to treat him with HW preventatives. He died only a week after the treatmeant was started. At that time I didn't know that White dogs and Collies could die from any preventative that contained Ivermectin. It was certain death for this angel. A true heartbreaking situation for such a loving soul.

**WYATT**
FOREVER IN MY HEART!!
I was devastated over the loss of this dog. His gentle soul and loving heart was incredible. Never had I taken a dog from any shelter that meant so much to me. He was very special from day one. His manners were unbelievable and I couldn't help but know that someone had to have loved him very much at some point before he got lost. He died suddenly with what we think was an infection that traveled to his heart. It was a very sad day the last time I saw him and will never forget the look in his eyes. Wyatt you touched everyone's heart in the short time we knew you. I will forever hold you close in my heart and never forget the look in your eyes when I first saw you in the shelter. I will always love you so very much.

**SWEET PEA**
FOREVER IN MY HEART!!
This baby sat in the shelter for a month. She was the sweetest most loving of puppies ever. When all the dogs barked and jumped I saw this one little angel sitting there quietly waiting to be noticed. On that day I knew we would take her and help her to find her new life. A week later she had to be put to sleep due to Distemper. A tragic loss of a precious baby from something so simple. A set of shots that an owner didn't care to provide when she was a puppy. So senseless.

**TEENSY**
FOREVER IN MY HEART!
I tried everything we possibly could to save this sweetheart who was emaciated at the time of her rescue. We found out in a couple of days she had Parvo. Nothing will stop this deadly disease in young dogs. She was loved dearly the short time she was in my rescue and so many wanted to help. We did everything we could but sometimes it's impossible to fight neglect that an owner inflicted on a dog before dumping them in a shelter. A simple set of shots would have saved her life.
